Train kills W.Va. teen walking on tracks

HURRICANE, W.Va. (AP) - A Putnam County teenager is dead after he was hit by a train while walking on tracks after school.

Media outlets report that the accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday near Hurricane High School.

Principal Richard Campbell identified the victim as 16-year-old sophomore Jacob Ball.

Campbell says several other students witnessed the accident. Grief counselors will be at the high school and Hurricane Middle School on Wednesday.

Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards says the accident shows the danger of walking on railroad tracks.
