Trash drop-off in Perry County

Eastern Kentucky PRIDE's Spring Clean-Up efforts are not just for people cleaning up their communities. It is also about people cleaning their homes.

PRIDE officials say 30 tons of trash were dropped off on the first day alone at the Perry County Garage in Hazard. Every kind of trash but tires, motor oil and construction debris were accepted. An Eastern Kentucky PRIDE Coordinator, Rosa Couch, said the Perry County Fiscal Court funded 90 percent of the drop-offs for the last two years.

"Judge Noble started this event years and years ago when he first became judge executive of Perry County. And when PRIDE was no longer able to fund the event, the judge thought it was necessary for the people in Perry County because as you can see they utilize it," Couch said.

All metal and electronics dropped off were recycled.
