GULSTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Severe weather left behind damage Thursday afternoon and some folks are picking up pieces of their home.

Limbs and leaves hide what is left of Elaine Fee's home.

“It took the whole house. The bathroom's gone. The bedroom's gone. The living room's gone,” said Fee.

Fee says a thunderstorm came through Gulston Thursday afternoon, but the wind was too much for a tree behind her rental home.

“The tree went all the way through to the garage. It went all the way through,” said Fee.

The Sunshine Fire Department says they were the first to the house. The fire captain says they did what they could after making sure no one was inside.

“We did cut some of the smaller limbs and stuff to gain access to the porch area so that we could go inside and make sure no one was in and survey the damage,” said Captain Ashley Hatfield.

Fee says she's just glad her renter was not home at the time, “when he told me that before I even came out, I called her at work to tell her the house was gone. Luckily she was there.”

She says her renter will be able to save a few things from the home, and is staying with family for now.

Unfortunately, she does not think they will be able to save the house itself.
