The crime shocked the Frankes community in Bell County. William Taylor, who was 91, was robbed and beaten to death in 2008.

Four people have been charged with his murder, and Monday some of them stood before a judge.

Deborah Partin, Jeremy Evans, and Candy Maiden filed into court Monday morning.

Missing was Brian Hatfield, who was not transported from the Whitley County Detention Center. His attorney was in court on his behalf.

"I'm always glad to be here for my father. All the family members are here to represent and to be here for our father, so it feels good," said Elaine Duvall, Taylor's daughter.

Taylor died in 2008 from injuries sustained from the beating.

Monday the courtroom was packed for a case that sparks many emotions for all those involved.

"It's a little tense. I don't think anybody in this family hates these other peoples' families or even these people for what they did, if they did it. We'll leave that up to the jury to decide," said Warren Taylor, Taylor's son.

"We will be here throughout the entire trial. We will be here the whole way," said Duvall.

The trial is set to start August 9th.

We asked family members of some of the defendants if they had anything to say. They told us they had no comment at this time.

For now, all four suspects are slated to be tried together at one trial.
That will only change if motions for separate trials are filed.
