LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth has hired a
Louisville native and former writer and editor at a Louisville
alternative publication as his new communications director.
Yarmuth said Monday that Stephen George will begin his new
duties on Dec. 12.
George is a University of Louisville graduate who previously
worked for Yarmuth as a staff writer at LEO Weekly, where he later
served as editor.
George also worked as editor of the Nashville City Paper and
wrote about government for the Nashville Scene. He most recently
served as press secretary for U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper of Tennessee.
George replaces Trey Pollard, who is leaving Yarmuth's staff to
take a press job with the national Sierra Club in Washington.
Yarmuth, a Democrat, represents Kentucky's 3rd Congressional
District that covers Louisville.
