Tuesday is deadline for voter registration

Posted: Mon 11:48 PM, Oct 08, 2012

The clock is ticking for folks who still need to register to vote in the November 6th election.

Kentucky’s voter registration deadline is Tuesday.

Officials we spoke with tell us a large amount of people have already registered.

Perry County Clerk Haven King says his office has received a record number of calls from voters regarding registration.

Officials say that in this election, many voters who were registered as democrats have switched to be registered as republicans.

They say the reason for this is the president's stance on important issues here in Eastern Kentucky like the coal industry.

Many folks blame the president's so called war on coal for recent layoffs.

But many agree the most important thing is not who you vote for--- it's that you get out and do it.

Tuesday is also the deadline to make a name or address change or to switch party affiliation.

County Clerks' Offices will accept voter registration cards until the close of business Tuesday.
