BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Two Bell County Sheriff's Deputies were injured during a standoff with a man Tuesday night.

Deputies say they went to the home of 48-year-old Orville Hobbs, Jr. in Balkan to serve a warrant and he pointed a shotgun at them.

They had a one hour standoff with him and say Hobbs threatened to shoot them.

"He called Bell County 911 and stated he felt justified that being in close proximity to him that he was justified to fire at us if he had too," Joel Quillen, Bell County Sheriff's Department.

Once Hobbs surrendered, deputies say he assaulted two deputies. Deputy B. J. Brock was treated at Pineville Community Hospital for his injuries.

Hobbs has a list of charges including assault, terroristic threatening, and wanton endangerment.
