Two arrested in undercover drug operation in Ashland

ASHLAND, Kentucky (WYMT/WSAZ) -- Two men allegedly bringing heroin from Detroit, through Ashland to sell in Huntington have been arrested in an undercover drug sting at the Ashland Bus Station.

Boyd County Sheriff's Deputies with the Boyd County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Unit arrested Thomas A. Reid, 34, of Detroit, Michigan and Jeremiah M. Bennett, 33, of Proctorville, Ohio Thursday night.

Deputies say the pair was in possession of approximately 250 grams of heroin with a street value of $50,000.

They say the heroin was found in a pink backpack wrapped in dirty wet woman's underwear, used tampons and fake hair. The heroin was also in a plastic bag with seasoning and spices around the heroin to attempt to mask the odor.

Thomas A. Reid is charged with trafficking a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Jeremiah M. Bennett is charged with complicity to trafficking a controlled substance.

Both are currently in custody are the Boyd County Detention Center.
