MANCHESTER, Ky (WYMT) - Ten months after a 16-year-old girl died in Clay County two people have been charged in connection with her death.

The victim's identity is not being released, but police say her mother is one of the people arrested.

Last year police say a 16-year-old girl was found dead on Ham Hollow Road from what the coroner calls an overdose.

From there police say they began investigating how the girl got the drugs.

52-year-old Brenda Bolton is charged with complicity to commit murder, and 45-year-old Kenny Wayne Collins is charged with murder.

Police say Bolton is the child's mother, although she did not have custody at the time. Collins is not related.

The coroner says the girl died from acute combined drug toxicity meaning there were multiple drugs in here system

"It's disturbing that a parent would subject their kid to that type of environment where it could cause their death or even serious physical injury, but most definitely death," said Don Trosper with Kentucky State Police.

Both Bolton and Collins have been arrested.

They declined our request for a jailhouse interview.

The two were also charged with unlawful transaction with a minor.
