LONDON, Ky (WYMT) - 35-year-old Katrina Dixon and 25-year-old Ashley Coffey are both behind bars after police say they were forging prescriptions on dental patients without their knowledge.

Both suspects worked at a dentist office in Laurel County. Police did not release the name of the dental office.

"They were actually phoning the prescriptions in on themselves and patients and then obtaining the prescriptions," said Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.

Dixon is charged with 10 counts of unauthorized procurement of a controlled substance for filling prescriptions unlawfully for hydrocodone pills on 10 separate occasions.

Coffey is facing eight counts of the same charge.

Police are still investigating and say they are not sure what the two were doing with the pills once the prescriptions were filled.

"I believe that a lot of people that work in these offices have the ability to call in these prescriptions, and a lot of times they put them in other people's names and a lot of times they put them in their own names," said Dan Smoot with Operation UNITE.

Ashley Coffey is being held on a $1,000 cash bond and Katrina Dixon is being held on a $1,000 surety bond.
