Two accused of assaulting a referee appear in court

Two people accused of assaulting a middle school referee went before a Letcher County Judge on Tuesday.

We were there when police arrested Billy Smith and his sister, Nikki Sanders for allegedly attacking a referee at a girl's basketball game in Letcher County.

The referee told police Smith beat him while Sanders cursed at him after the game at Cowan Elementary School back in October.

No word yet on what happened in court.
