Two people are arrested in connection with a string of copper thefts in Letcher and Perry Counties.

State police arrested 54-year-old James D. Warren and 22-year-old Preston Halcomb Junior, both of Blackey, earlier this afternoon.

The two men are charges with receiving stolen property over five hundred dollars.

Police say an investigation led them to a scrap yard in Letcher County which has received more than two tons of copper from the men.

“These charges have been brought are in Letcher County at this time, but the investigation will be presented to the grand juries in Letcher and Perry Counties and most likely will be charges in both counties,” Tony Watts said.

Both Warren and Halcomb are being held in the Letcher County Detention Center.

Additional charges are pending.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a third person in relation to the case.
