Two indicted by grand jury in Ashland assault case

A man and woman who police say attacked a woman and then stole her purse while she was loading her wheelchair into her car have been indicted by a grand jury.

On Monday, a Boyd County grand jury indicted 29-year-old Roger Kittle, Jr. and 22-year-old Heather Griffith, both of Ashland on 1st degree robbery charges, according to Commonwealth Attorney David Justice.

Ashland Police say the strong armed robbery happened earlier this month in the parking lot of the Ashland Children's Clinic at 700 13th St.

The pair was arrested the next day following a short foot chase.

Both suspects remain in the Boyd County Detention Center. They are expected to be arraigned later this week. If convicted of the charge they could face 10 to 20 years in prison.

Investigators in Carter County, Ky., also believe the duo is responsible for a robbery and invasion at the Quality Inn Motel in Grayson, Ky., on New Year's Day.
