Two local groups get federal funding to help with heatlhcare costs

One local organization received a large sum of money Thursday to help with healthcare in our region.

Officials with the United States Department of Agriculture presented Kentucky River Community Care with a $117,000 grant to advance specialty care to patients living in the area.

These services will be provided at various sites throughout four different counties.

"This provides access in the community to all of our citizens who are unable to travel long distances, who don't have resources, finances or transportation to actually leave the area to get specialty care." Mike Kadish, with Kentucky River Community Care said.

Another local organization to receive a grant from the USDA was Grace Community Health Center.

They received $80,000.
