Typhoon deaths climb into thousands in Philippines

TACLOBAN, Philippines (AP) -

Typhoon Haiyan has made landfall in Vietnam. That's according to the Hong Kong meteorological observatory.

The storm has weakened since cutting a devastating path through the Philippines, where thousands are believed dead.

It is one of the worst storms ever recorded.

The typhoon made landfall in northern Vietnam early Monday. The Hong Kong Observatory says the maximum sustained winds near its center are 120 kilometers (74 miles) per hour.
