LEXINGTON, Ky.(WYMT)- University of Kentucky students danced their way to raising more than one million dollars!
It was all part of the annual Dance Blue event a 24-hour, no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon that supports pediatric cancer care and research at the UK Children's Hospital.
Five hundred thousand dollars was raised in the name of a surprise donor, Joy Wills of Egypt in Jackson County, bringing the final amount to just more than 1.6 million dollars. Wills died in August and was a long time supporter of Dance Blue.
The marathon was recently named one of the top ten biggest college fundraisers.
