LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The University of Kentucky track and field team hopes to collect at least 450 more pairs of shoes as part of an annual donation drive.
Donations of shoes in any condition are being taken until Friday at various sites on the UK campus, as well as at the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government building.
The University of Kentucky Track and Field Shoe Drive is in its third year. More than 5,000 shoes were collected in 2011 and 2012.
As of Tuesday, 2,550 pairs of shoes had been donated. Donations will be delivered to Soles4Souls, a nonprofit organization in Nashville, Tenn., which will distribute them to people in more than 125 countries as well as in the U.S.
