UK students robbed at gunpoint; police search for suspects

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are searching for a group of suspects they say robbed five people at gunpoint inside a home.

The robbery happened around 9 p.m. Friday along Hagerman Court in Lexington, not far from UK's campus.

Police were out interviewing the five men inside the home Friday night. They tell us the majority of them are UK students, and at least one of the students recognized one of the three men they say robbed them.

"Shocking, more than anything shocking. We're right next door. We didn't hear anything," explained neighbor John Johnston.

Friday night's robbery has some spooked.

Lexington police say three men went to a house on Hagerman Court with the intention of robbing whoever was inside. They say the five men inside opened the door to the three others. The visitors then showed their guns, and demanded cash, phones, and electronics. A robbery at gunpoint isn't something people on Hagerman Court are used to seeing.

"I'm just gonna have to look over my shoulder more. Maybe carry a pocket knife with me," said Johnston.

Police are still searching for the three robbers. They have vague descriptions at this time.
