UK plans new honor student dorm

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - University of Kentucky President Eli
Capilouto says dormitories for 9,000 students will be built during
the next few years, including a $30 million high-tech hall for
honors students.
A request for proposals will go out Wednesday to private
developers who could help UK finance and build the dormitory, the
Lexington Herald-Leader reported ( ). The board
of trustees is expected to approve final plans by December, and the
hall would open as soon as 2013.
The plans were fast-tracked after new facilities were identified
as an urgent need on campus a few weeks ago.
