Jackson, Ky. (WYMT)-- An investigation culminated with nearly a dozen arrests early Wednesday.

"Addiction really changes folks' lives," said Keith Napier of Operation UNITE. "It can be devastating to the families, to the person addicted, and I view it as we're trying to save lives here."

Investigators also take steps to ensure they identify the people in the indictments correctly, Napier said.

"It's very important to us that we know when we pick someone up that we're getting the right individual," he said.

The police force's chaplain also came to help.

"There's always hope, and it brings hope and relief," said Fred Finley, who is also a pastor. "We offer prayer and support."

He also has a personal connection to drug use.

"I know what it is. I was there one time myself, and so I know you can overcome it," he said.
