UPIKE students start school year

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Students were back in class for the first time this school year at the University of Pikeville Monday.

UPIKE officials say they have record breaking enrollment this year with more than 2400 students enrolled including undergraduate, graduate, and dual enrollment students.

Officials say so far everything has run smoothly for the beginning of the year.

"We're very excited especially with Dr. Hurley taking over as president, his first year as president. We're excited especially since we have this fourth straight year of record breaking enrollment. It's a great year to be a Bear," said Gary Justice, Vice President of Enrollment Management.

UPIKE officials say you can still register for classes through Tuesday, and scholarships are still available.
