UPIKE Officials respond to incident involving student athletes

University of Pikeville officials are responding to a weekend incident outside a nightclub involving several of its athletes.

Two football players, including former Perry Central player Demetri Travis, were taken to the hospital after a fight outside Yesterday's night club in Williamson.

Police say it involved about 60 people.

We are told several arrests are pending.

UPIKE released this statement:
The University of Pikeville and UPIKE Athletics is aware of an incident involving some of our current and former student-athletes over the weekend in Williamson, West Virginia. The safety and security of our students is a priority. Led by our campus police, we are investigating the incident and cannot offer any further comment at this time.
