The first University of Pikeville school year is starting with a big milestone for the school.
UPike is breaking the school's record for number of students! Enrollment is almost double what it was two years ago!
Officials say nearly 1800 students are registered for classes.
"Our mission is to meet the needs of the Central Appalachia and we feel like we can do that one student at a time. It's now more than one student at a time, so we're proud," said UPike Vice-President James Hurley.
Hurley says they have students from 38 different states and nine foreign countries.
It's not too late to enroll. Hurley says scholarships and financial aid are still available.
