Twenty-two years of hard work by students and volunteers were recognized Thursday night.
A celebration was held in Hazard for the Upward Bound program in Breathitt, Knott, Letcher and Perry counties.
The program will end on August 31st due to federal cuts.
Former students say they are thankful for what it did for them.
“They took me from New York, Atlanta, Washington and I don’t think, at that young of an age, I would have been able to see those places without the Upward Bound program,” former Upward Bound student, Elmer Fugate said.
The celebration was held at the HCTC Technical campus.
