DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A select number of Centre College students will get the chance to see the Vice Presidential debate in person. The College held a ticket lottery this afternoon for students. WKYT talked to the first students who got a ticket.
Newlin Hall, where the debate is being held, is basically just a gigantic TV studio now but there are still a limited number of seats. 100 of them will be filled by Centre students.
About an hour ago students waited in hopes that their names would be called in a lottery. 500 students entered the lottery and, at first, college officials thought just over 30 names would be called.
College officials said that 10% of their student body will be inside the hall watching the debate.
The event also included performances from several youth performers, the high school jazz band, middle school choir and dance team.
