Vigil scheduled for Laurel County girl killed in car crash

Friends and family will remember a 13-year old girl, killed in a crash that police say was caused by her father.

One year ago Monday, Destiny Hammons died in the wreck at highways 192 and 229 in Laurel County.

That is where a vigil is planned.

Following the crash, police arrested Robert Hammons, charging him with murder.

Police say he admitted to drinking and taking prescription pills before the wreck.

First responders receive swift water rescue certification
