Virginia general assembly votes to open most ABC liquor stores on Sunday

In nearby Virginia, some liquor stores owned by the state Alcohol Beverage Control might be open on Sundays, starting on July 1st.

The general assembly approved the extended hours of 206 stores that did not already have Sunday sales in place.

The stores will be open from one until six p.m., if they are not prohibited by local ordinances.

Five stores in Wise, Buchanan and Dickenson counties are owned by the ABC.
