Politicians from across the state gathered in Hazard today to educate young people about voting.

The politicians talked to juniors and seniors at Hazard High School about the history behind the republican and democratic parties.

United We Stand says their goal was to inform students so they are properly equipped to choose a party they stand for.

"We hope there's some sort of awakening of at least curiosity for people to go out there and look and see why the parties were founded and what each party stands for and find out where you fit in the mix," said KY Senator Brandon Smith.

This was the second forum, and organizers say they plan to have another event next year.
