W.Va. man gets prison for mine safety violations

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (AP) - A Mercer County man was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for falsifying mandatory mine safety reports.

The government says 37-year-old Craig Belcher was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bluefield. He had previously pleaded guilty in July to charges related to the falsified safety reports.

The offenses occurred from January 2009 to July 2010 when the Bluefield man was working at mines in Wyoming County, Fayette County and McDowell County.
