CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia travelers now have an easy way to get real-time traffic information.
The state has launched West Virginia 511, which provides traffic information on crashes, work zones, lane closures, road conditions and severe weather information.
The information can be accessed by calling 511 toll-free, visiting WV511.org website or downloading a free app for smartphones. A visit to the website also provides an interactive map of traffic incidents and roadway construction.
The West Virginia Department of Transportation said the 511 system also includes Twitter feeds for state, regional or specific locations. The 511 system was rolled out Wednesday by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and the state's secretary of transportation, Paul Maddox.
