Knox County Superintendent to retire

Walter Hulett has been the Superintendent of Schools in Knox County for seven years. Now, he is stepping down.

Hulett has worked in education for 32 years. He says during his time as superintendent, he is most proud of the perseverance by Knox County Schools during tough economic times. Hulett says he chose to retire to spend more time with his family.

"My girls have grown too quickly, and now I have grandchildren and I'm watching how quick they grow. And so I finally just thought while I feel good and I'm healthy that this is a good time to go," Hulett said.

He will officially be retired on May 1. No replacement has been named.
