MOUSIE, Ky (WYMT) - His father is accused of opening fire on several law enforcement officials and now Rocky Wicker Jr. has joined him in jail.
Rocky Wicker Jr. was arrested this afternoon in Knott County around two o'clock.
Knott County Sheriff's Deputy Robby Slone said they got a tip leading them to a house in Mousie early Tuesday afternoon.
"Went to that location, he definitely was at that location. After a short foot pursuit he was apprehended, taken into custody," said Slone.
Rocky Wicker Jr. now faces a slew of charges after running from law enforcement officials.
"He will face charges of fleeing and evading police officers, also convicted felon in possession of handgun. He also had controlled substances on him, things like that," said Slone.
His father, Rocky Wicker Sr., was arrested Monday.
Police say the elder Wicker opened fire on probation and parole officials, shooting Officer Brian Melvin in the arm, after they came looking for his son.
"They are both lodged at the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
Todd Henson is with the Department of Corrections and he said there is always danger in their employees' jobs.
"The shooting that occurred is not something that occurs on a regular basis but it is an ever present danger," said Henson.
Henson added that is why his staff is trained and equipped with bullet proof vests.
Sheriff's deputies say Kentucky State Police assisted them in the arrest.
Henson said the other three officers involved in the shooting yesterday were Joseph Ratliff, Olivia Newsome and Sloane Marcum.
None of those officers were hurt.
