Warm last weekend of winter

Updated: Sun 4:13 PM, Mar 17, 2013

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - It is officially the last weekend of winter and the weather on Saturday had folks looking forward to spring.

With sunshine and temperatures reaching the 70's, parks across the region were crowded this afternoon, especially the city park in Pikeville. The playground was filled with kids happy to say goodbye to the cold winter weather.

LaKeisha Deramus explains why she is looking forward to more nice weather, "In the winter I stay inside because it is really cold, but when it is spring I like to go outside and go swimming sometimes and ride bikes."

Spring officially begins this Wednesday.
