Warner Brothers will not remove Confederate Flag from the General Lee

Updated: Fri 1:47 AM, Aug 31, 2012

Fans of “The Dukes of Hazzard” say they won a victory today.

A Warner Brothers spokesperson says they will not take the Confederate Flag off the top of the General Lee.

Reports on the Internet claimed they planned on doing that to future versions of the famous car.

Fans started an online petition and Ben Jones, who played “Cooter” on the popular TV show issued a statement opposing the idea.

Jones told us the decision not to removed the flag was a nice present on his 71st birthday.

“It was a stupid idea to begin with. It was politically correct and was an insult to the fans of the show, to the people of the South and to those of us who are descended from the Confederacy. Things like that divide people. That does not improve race relations or anything like that. Our show was color blind. I say Hazzard County was a hate-free place,” Jones said.

Jones will be appearing in nearby Pennington Gap, Virginia Friday at the Lee County Fair.
