Wayne County, WV high school locked down after Facebook threat

Posted: Tue 5:35 AM, Dec 18, 2012

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WYMT/WSAZ) -- Spring Valley High School went on lockdown Monday afternoon after a Facebook threat was reported.

Superintendent Mike Ferguson says the reported threat, from one student to another, was made on Facebook.

Ferguson says the students involved, and their parents, have met with school administrators.

Ferguson says the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and West Virginia State Police are also investigating.

Ferguson also said administrators followed the safe school's plan. They asked for a lockdown so authorities could bring in a dog to sweep the school.

The lockdown was put into place about 1 p.m.

Ferguson told our sister station that everything is under control.
