CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Corrections officials are investigating the stabbing of an inmate by a fellow prisoner at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex.
Corrections Commissioner Jim Rubenstein tells the Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/tuyPCo ) that Jordan Roush of Wayne County suffered injuries that weren't serious. Roush was treated and released from the prison's health unit.
The incident occurred Monday morning in the prison yard.
Rubenstein says Victor Hoffman from Putnam County stabbed Roush with a homemade knife known as a shank.
State police are investigating the incident. Rubenstein says the Division of Corrections is conducting an internal investigation.
Hoffman is serving time on two counts of conspiracy to manufacture and sell a controlled substance. Roush is serving time for child molestation.
