Weekend fire damages several boats in Campbell County, TN

LAFOLLETTE, Tn. (WYMT/WVLT) - At least six boats sitting at a boat dock in Campbell County went up in flames about 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

It happened at the Whitman Hollow Boat Dock located at the 1200 block of Whitman Hollow Road in La Follette.

Officials believe an explosion could have caused the fire.

Firefighters successfully contained the fire by using boats to surround the fire according to assistant fire chief Daniel Lawson.

As many as two of the boats sunk, and the dock was pretty heavily damaged, but was not a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

Responders included Campbell County Fire Services, Mutual Aid and the Caryville Fire Department.
