JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT/Lexington Herald Leader) - A well known Eastern Kentucky reverend and former lawmaker has died.
The Lexington Herald Leader reports Walter Strong, who founded and led several churches in the mountains, died Monday in Owsley County.
Strong also served in the senate from 1973 to 1977 and was a world war II veteran.
Visitation for Strong will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday night at the Breathitt Funeral Home in Jackson.
His funeral will be at one Saturday afternoon, also at the funeral home.
Reverend Strong was 86 years old.
