A well known former Middlesboro mayor died this weekend.
82-year-old Troy Lee Welch died Saturday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Welch was the Middlesboro Mayor from the late 80's to the early 90's.
He was also a veteran.
He played a big role in building the Middlesboro Campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
Loved ones say he will be missed.
“He was a worker. He only chose those things that would help our community and help it grow. He was a participant not a by stander,” Bell County Judge Executive Jennifer Jones said.
Visitation is Tuesday night from 6pm to 8pm at the First Baptist Church in Middlesboro.
