A Whitley County detention center work release inmate is recovering after being hit by a car.
The News Journal reports the accident happened around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on Highway 836 in Whitley County.
Officials are not releasing the identity of the man.
They say he was hit by a car while working with a road crew.
The victim was treated at the scene and taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police do not anticipate to file any other charges besides minor traffic violations.
