The number of people coming down with the whooping cough is going up and now health officials are urging Kentuckians to get vaccinated.

In 2007, the number of whooping cough cases in the state was 47.

This year there are already more than 250 reported cases in the state.

The Kentucky Department of Public Health says children under one year old are most at risk for significant complications from the illness.
