Just days after he was shot to death outside his home, the widow of a retired Kentucky sheriff has now died.
We’re told Herbert Proffitt’s wife, Bernice, died Sunday.
Family members say she became sick just hours after her husband’s death last week.
Herbert Proffitt, who was 82 years old, was killed last Tuesday near his Monroe County home.
Police later arrested Charles Hammer, 81, and charged him with murder.
Police say Hammer killed Proffitt out of revenge.
Proffitt’s funeral was held Monday.
