Williams touts reputation as fighter in latest ad

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republican gubernatorial candidate David
Williams is touting his reputation as a fighter in his latest TV ad
while Democratic incumbent Steve Beshear continues attacking on the
airwaves.
Williams, the often strident president of the Kentucky Senate,
had tried to foster a nice guy image in past advertising, a tactic
that hasn't seemed to work based on polling that shows him trailing
Beshear by more than 20 percentage points.
The latest Williams ad that began airing Wednesday shows two men
sitting at a lunch counter, talking about him. One says: "Seems
like he's doing a lot of fighting."
The other says: "It's about time somebody started fighting."
The ad Beshear released Wednesday accuses Williams of being a
career politician who has extravagantly spent taxpayer money during
26 years in the legislature.
