WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - Officials in Williamsburg are considering banning smoking in all public places.
Health officials say the smoking ban could pass during the February City Council meeting. If passed, the ban would put an end to smoking in restaurants, stores, or any other public place. While the ban will likely draw some strong criticism, some store owners believe their customers wont mind the change.
"I don't think a lot of our customers will be too upset because they are used to it," said Victor Freeman, from Butch's Food mart. "it's old hat to most people, to not smoke in public."
Whitley county health officials say they support the ban because of the negative affects second hand smoke can have on both the respiratory and circulatory systems.
