Williamson police officer found dead in Pike Co.

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Williamson Police Chief Dave Rockel tells us a Williamson, West Virginia Police officer is dead and his death is under investigation by State Police in Pike County.

Jefferson Taylor III, 27, of McCarr, Ky., was found unresponsive about 4:30 p.m. Monday at a relative's home in Pike County, Ky.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Taylor was accused of driving under the influence in a crash involving his police cruiser. They say he was off duty at the time of the crash last week; however, he was since suspended without pay.

He had been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and leaving the scene of an accident
