HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The Powerball Jackpot is at a total of $600 million dollars, and many lotto players lined up at gas stations Saturday throughout Kentucky for their chance to hit it big.
The big number is drawing in big crowds, and at the Hazard Apple Market the crowds keep getting bigger.
Assistant Manager Sara Hurley says people are paying big bucks for their shot at the jackpot.
“We had a woman come in just a little while ago, and she bought like one hundred dollars worth, just for herself,” said Hurley.
Whether you pick your own number or have them randomly selected, you only need one ticket for your chance to hit it big and millions of people across the nation are taking that chance.
And even though their chances of winning are 1 out of 175 million, it's the dream that keeps them coming back for the tickets.
“Oh I'd travel. I’d be gone. I wouldn't be back in this town no more,” said lottery player, Shane Burton.
Many say they are buying for themselves and their loved ones
“I’d give all my siblings, there's 11 of us all together, I’d give them all money,” said one lottery player.
“I’d get a new car, and it's my granny. I’m helping her with it and there’s no telling all we'd do,” said lottery player, Stacey Watts.
They say each ticket is making them multi-millionaires, even if it's only in their dreams.
