WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Police suspect one person could be to blame in several Letcher County burglaries.

It only took minutes for the money to disappear from the shop Raegan’s Closet in Whitesburg.

“The door was unlocked while she was gone Ms. Hatton entered into the store, stole $140 out of the cash register and then left the store,” said Whitesburg Police Chief, Tyrone Fields.

The money was taken by Nora Lynn Hatton, who had a history of theft, and is now in jail for the burglary.

According to police, it happened minutes after Hatton was released from house arrest for other theft charges.

Other business and home burglaries that she may be connected to as well were being investigated as well.

One of them was the home of radio station manager Kevin Day.

“Our home had been vandalized, a mess made throughout; the house drawers brought out, a mess everywhere,” said Day.

Day’s description was a sight that even his neighbors were familiar with.

“There's been a rash of burglaries in our neighborhood in the last six months, but especially in the last couple weeks there's been increased activity,” said Day.

Police are working to find whoever may be to blame.
