THORNTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Fire officials say an elderly woman is dead after a house fire in Letcher County.
It happened in the Thornton community off Highway 1862.
Officials say 73-year old Virginia Lowe was pulled from the home and they tried to save her life, but she did not make it.
The cause of the fire is not known.
