MCDOWELL, Ky. (WYMT) - Police say a shooting in Floyd County Tuesday night killed one man and injured two others people.

Lorene Halbert, wife of shooting victim, Famer Halbert, says Ronald and Loretta Wright conspired to kill them both at their home in Mcdowell.

She says she now knows why her sister Loretta Wright and her husband Ronald came to her home.

“I believe they would have killed him and me and the children,” said Halbert.

Yet, what began as a family visit with their 7 grandchildren quickly became violent.

“They was getting ready to go; so me and her went on the porch and then all of a sudden we heard this big boom, and we ran into the kitchen and I knew he'd shot my husband,” said Halbert.

She says her husband Famer Halbert was in bed asleep when he was shot. A fight then broke out between the three of them. Lorene and Ronald were shot as well.

“You know that’s my sister I love my family, you know. I trust them coming in there, but never would have thought they were planning on coming in to shoot us, kill us,” said Halbert.

Lorene says that the Wrights targeted her and Famer for the death of their son months ago, even though police say no foul play was suspected.

“They know we didn't. They want to blame somebody so I guess we was the last ones to have seen him,” said Halbert.

Now one more life has been taken.

“They shouldn't have ever come in my home. They was really out to kill me and my grand-babies. I mean they killed my husband. It wasn't right. I want justice done on her just the same as him,” said Halbert.

Loretta Wright is in the Floyd County Jail, and has already pleaded not guilty to charges of complicity to murder and attempted murder.

Ronald Wright is still in the hospital, but Lorene believes he will survive.

Police say he will be charged with murder and attempted murder.
