Woman dies from injuries suffered in fire

A woman has died from injuries she suffered in a fire earlier this month.

The fire happened on December 23 in the Keavy community of Laurel County.

Officials tell us Ruth Baker, 76, died at UK Medical Center on Thursday night.

She suffered burns in the fire that destroyed the log cabin where she and her husband have lived for about 30 years.

Investigators say Baker had been smoking in bed and that is what started the fire.
